Nynorsk!

Norway

4pm

Laura Loge, soprano; Sandra Mogensen, piano

Northwest favorite and new Artistic Director, soprano Laura Loge will be joined by Canadian/Danish pianist Sandra Mogensen, who is celebrated for her performances and recordings of Edvard Grieg’s lyric pieces for piano as well as collaborations with singers from the Nordic countries. Together they will bring to life Edvard Grieg’s duplicitous Vinje songs, highlighting the poetry of A. O. Vinje written in nynorsk stepped with elements of the Telemark dialect and selected lyric pieces for piano.

Please join us at 3pm in Classrooms 1 and 2 for a pre-concert lecture by Lori Ann Reinhall, who will discuss the Nynorsk language, and how it relates to the music that Edvard Grieg composed to Vinje's texts. Lori Ann is president of the Seattle-Bergen Sister City Association, which is also sponsoring the event.
