Norwegian Constitution Day
Be a Grand Marshall in the Parade
As you know, we’re building a new home—the New Nordic Museum, opening next May, will be a modern 57,000-sq. ft. museum and cultural center informed by Nordic Spirit and located in the heart of Ballard. The community support has been amazing, with over 890 donors making more than 1500 gifts to the campaign.
In thanks to those who’ve helped us raise 40 million for the New Nordic Museum, the Norwegian 17th of May Committee has chosen New Nordic Museum donors to march as Grand Marshalls in this year’s May 17th parade. We couldn’t be more honored to have the contributions of our donors recognized by the Committee.
There are still funds to raise for the New Museum, so if you’d like to join this grand group of marchers visit our donate now page to contribute in any amount in just a few clicks.
The parade runs through Ballard from 6 – 8 p.m; check back for information on where to meet. If you're interested in learning more about the history of the parade or nearby festivities check out the Norwegian 17th of May Committee's website.
Activities at the Museum
We invite you to kick off your celebration at the Museum with free admission, open-faced sandwiches at the Nordic Cafe (10am-2pm) and kids activities throughout the day. Park at the Museum and take the free shuttle to Market Street for the festivities (shuttle runs 11am-5pm).
Come and be inspired by the values, traditions, art,
and spirit of the Nordic peoples.
