Schedule a Tour

We offer group tours (groups of 10 – 30) for children and adults, as well as self-guided tours.

For group tours, please make your tour reservations at least two weeks in advance. See additional details below.

Guided tours are available for groups of 10 to 30 adults. Museum docents offer tours of The Dream of America exhibit. Travel back to the 19th-century Scandinavian countryside to begin the journey to America through The Dream of America’s life-like settings and period artifacts. The voyage continues through captivating displays, across the Atlantic, and to Ellis Island. Moving through the Midwest, the trek ends in the Pacific Northwest and Ballard, Seattle. 

Museum docents also offer guided tours of visiting exhibits. Check the Museum website for current exhibits. Tours of other core exhibits can be scheduled by request.

Guided School Tours

Bring your class’s study of immigration, Nordic culture, or Washington State history alive with this popular tour. Travel back to the 19th-century Scandinavian countryside with your students to begin the journey to America through The Dream of America’s life-like settings and period artifacts. The voyage continues through captivating displays, as students board a ship to cross the Atlantic, and disembark at Ellis Island. Moving through the Midwest, the trek ends in the Pacific Northwest and Ballard, Seattle. Make the Nordic immigrant experience universal with this dynamic tour using role-playing and illustrative props!

Minimum of ten students, maximum of thirty on guided tours. Larger groups can schedule back-to-back tours. One chaperone is required for every six students.

  • Audience: appropriate for 1st through 12th grade
  • Length: 45 minutes – 1 hour
  • Tuesday – Friday: 10am, 11am, and noon
  • Cost: $2 for students, $4 for adults
  • FREE for Seattle Public School groups

Teachers are also welcome to bring students on self-guided tours. Scavenger hunts are available for all three floors of the Museum.
