There are many opportunities to volunteer. Some volunteers work daily or weekly to support general Museum operations, while other volunteers work as-needed for special events and projects. Below are some of the types of daily/weekly volunteer assistance the Museum needs.
Volunteers at the Admissions Desk are the first impression visitors have of the Museum. They provide orientation to the Museum, information about Membership and upcoming events, and shape the visitor experience.
Volunteers in the Museum Store assist visitors with Museum Store items, provide information about Museum programs and events, and operate the cash register.
Volunteers at the phone desk interact with staff regularly, answer and transfer phone calls, provide information to visitors, and provide security for the 2nd floor exhibits.
Kitchen and Dining Room
Help celebrate Nordic food traditions for all to enjoy! Prepare and serve Nordic dishes and treats for programs, events, and fundraisers. Bake items for receptions and special events. Food Handler’s Permit is recommended.
Facilities and Grounds
Help keep the Museum looking nice and working well! Assist in building and grounds maintenance, as well as other projects, with the Monday or Thursday Crew. If you have skills in painting, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, cleaning, raking, and pruning; enjoy heavy lifting and team work; and/or have a truck, we could use your help!
Help us behind the scenes with a variety of essential, daily tasks such as data entry, filing, shredding, organizations, and mailing preparation. Support the Museum while getting to know staff members and fellow volunteers!
Come and be inspired by the values, traditions, art,
and spirit of the Nordic peoples.
