Featured Exhibitions

  • What's On

    Fischersund: Faux Flora

Organized by the National Nordic Museum, Faux Flora is the first-ever museum exhibition from Icelandic art collective Fischersund—a multisensory journey through scent, sound, and image that reimagines new plant species. Moving through five life-inspired chapters, the exhibition evokes familiar Icelandic motifs in an immersive exploration of growth, transformation, and emotion.

  • What's On

    Ginny Ruffner: Project Aurora

Ballard-based artist Ginny Ruffner's monumental Project Aurora has found its permanent home at the National Nordic Museum! A wall of light 20’ in height and aided by artificial intelligence, the installation evokes the Aurora Borealis as its undulations mimic the unpredictability of the natural phenomenon. The work was created in collaboration with technologist Ed Fries and scholar Wanda Gregory.

Stop in during our extended hours on Thursdays to see Project Aurora after dark!
