Produced for the Nordic Heritage Museum by The Fram Museum (Oslo, Norway)
An expansive survey of the legendary Norwegian explorer's life, Lessons from the Arctic: How Roald Amundsen Won the Race to the South Pole, explains in detail how Roald Amundsen spent his youth preparing for a life in the polar regions, his first meeting with the Antarctic, the three years he spent with the Inuit in the Arctic region, and the historic Race for the South Pole from 1910 to 1912. Amundsen's motivations, tactics, and achievements are analyzed through scholarly text and over 200 photographs, some never before seen. The exhibition also includes photos and information covering the Norwegian's travels on the US West Coast.
