In a fireside chat with Washington State Senator Marko Liias, the President of Finland Sauli Niinistö discusses Finland's NATO membership, the European security situation, including Russia's aggression against Ukraine, as well as the partnership and economic relationship between Finland and the State of Washington. President Niinistö’s visit to Seattle marked the first time a President of the Republic of FInland has visited the State of Washington and reflects the growing cooperation between Finland and Washington.
President Niinistö also addressed a joint session of the Washington State Legislature in Olympia marking the first time the Legislature has met in joint session since 1973 and the first time a foreign head of state has addressed the Legislature,
