Join us for the 30th Annual Wallenberg Lecture given by Johan Karlsson Schaffer, professor of International Relations, School of Global Studies, University of Gothenburg and Editor of the Nordic Journal of Human Rights. Schaffer is currently working on a comparative study of Sámi legal mobilization in Finland, Norway, and Sweden.

Honoring the Memory of Swedish Diplomat, Raoul Wallenberg

The Wallenberg Lecture series commemorates Raoul Wallenberg’s heroic actions in WWII, when he intervened to save thousands of Jews from deportation to Nazi concentration camps.

Since 2020, Johan Karlsson Schaffer has worked as the Editor-in-Chief of the Nordic Journal of Human Rights.
Bio

Johan Karlsson Schaffer

Since 2020, Johan Karlsson Schaffer has worked as the Editor-in-Chief of the Nordic Journal of Human Rights.

He joined the School of Global Studies at the University of Gothenburg as an associate professor in 2016. Before joining the School of Global Studies, he worked at the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights, University of Oslo, from 2009 to 2017. He also held a visiting professorship at the Faculty of Law, University of Olso, in 2018–2019. At the University of Gothenburg, he was awarded the title Excellent Teacher in 2022 and promoted to Professor of International Relations in 2024.
