On September 15, starting at 6pm, Orquesta Northwest and MEXAM NW Festival invite you to learn more about the traditional Grito de Independencia. Enjoy poetry by renowned poet Raúl Sánchez, as well as a musical piano duet by Ricardo de La Torre and Larx Powers, among other great musicians. The Consul of Mexican Communities Abroad, Diana Oliveros, will conduct the ceremony of "El Grito."
On September 18, 1pm to 4pm, join Orquesta Northwest, the Consulate of Mexico in Seattle, and MEXAM NW Festival to celebrate the “El Grito” Concert for the fifth time in a row. In commemoration of 200 years of United States-Mexico diplomatic relations and Mexico's Independence Day, renowned Mexican conductor Paula Madrigal will lead the orchestra in playing Mexico's favorite classical pieces. Look for special participation of the first trumpet of the National Symphony of Mexico, Edmundo Romero, as well as Trío Guadalevín, Mariachi Guadalajara, and more. Bailadores de Bronce will celebrate their 50th anniversary at this event.
