Mushroom Foraging Field Trip

Date

Admission

Part-class, part-hike, part-field trip, this class will introduce you to the world of mushroom foraging on Whidbey Island. Grab your boots and your baskets, and join us for a forest adventure!

From chanterelles to morels to chicken of the woods, the Pacific Northwest is a haven for chefs and hobby foragers alike.

Join mycophile and chef Nicco Muratore on a mushroom foraging trip as you learn how to identify which mushrooms are edible (and which ones are definitely not!), the best zones to forage and seasons to go, tree identification, and how elevation impacts the hunt. Along the way, you’ll enjoy a forest picnic and discuss how to prepare your foraged feast at home.

* This field trip will require driving 1 to 2 hours outside of Seattle. The hiking will be moderate, but ideally not difficult. Wandering around in the woods for mushrooms usually involves slow and steady off trail work, but strenuous hiking will be avoided.
