Plus, get ready for a once-in-a-lifetime event!

On August 12, 2026, a spectacular solar eclipse will darken the skies of Western Iceland—the first in the Reykjavík area since 1433! This rare phenomenon will briefly turn day into night, offering a breathtaking experience across the Arctic, Greenland, Iceland, and parts of Western Europe.

Hear from Sævar Helgi and learn why Iceland is the ultimate destination for skywatchers. Guests will also be invited to experience Iceland through virtual reality, with a focus on Icelandia's Northern Lights tours, glacier hikes, and ATV tours.

This program is a part of Taste of Iceland 2026, organized by Inspired by Iceland, returning to Seattle from Thursday, March 19 through Saturday, March 21. The cultural festival celebrates Iceland with events across the city showcasing the best of Icelandic culture, including food, music, nature, art, travel, and more.
