About Tuomo & Markus:
Founded by acclaimed Finnish soul/jazz artist Tuomo Prättälä and singer/songwriter Markus Nordenstreng of The Latebirds, Tuomo & Markus' harmonious music has been described as Nordic Americana and folk rock with jazz, soul and psychedelic influences.
Throughout their tenure, the pair have always looked to bridge the gap between psychedelic and folk-inspired soundscapes. For their second album 'Game Changing' (2023) the duo teamed up with Jonathan Wilson, best known for his production work with Father John Misty and Angel Olsen. Other contributors on the new release include jazz trumpet virtuoso Verneri Pohjola, Finnish folk artist Pekko Käppi and NYC guitar legend Marc Ribot. Since the release of their debut album 'Dead Circles' (2018) - which was recorded with help from members of Wilco, Calexico and The Jayhawks - Tuomo & Markus have transformed into a stellar 6-piece live band. With the addition of trumpet player Verneri Pohjola jazz and psychedelic influences have become more and more evident at their ambitious live shows, drawing the attention of critics like David Fricke who hailed the band in Rolling Stone Magazine recently and Kevin Cole from KEXP who in turn invited Tuomo & Markus for a live session. In 2022 Wilco invited the band to perform at their Solid Sound Festival at MASS MoCA.
Tuomo & Markus have also recorded several 7" soul singles for Stylart/Timmion Records/DapTone under the alias Pratt & Moody. The band is currently finishing a new all instrumental album titled 'Music For Roads' (due 2024) that was cut togerher with Verneri Pohjola, Jaska Lukkarinen, Marc Ribot and Sylvain Rifflet.
