Virtual Workshop: Translating a Landscape into a Papercut

Date

Admission

Join us for a landscape inspired virtual papercutting class with local artist and author Anna Brones!

Taking inspiration from the Museum's latest exhibit Across the West & Towards the North: Norwegian and American Landscape Photography, Brones leads us through a class focused on papercutting landscapes. Using images from the gallery as our starting point, we will create our own landscape papercuts in class, while focusing on composition and how to translate lines of a landscape into positive and negative space.

Materials needed:

  • A craft knife + extra blades (Anna recommends this one)
  • Self-healing cutting mat
  • Printer paper (for sketching and practicing cutting)
  • Heavier paper (for final papercuts). Anna mostly cuts in black paper, but you can choose what you would like. Anna recommends Canson Mi-Teintes 98 lb (this comes in a variety of colors too!)
  • Pencil
  • Eraser
  • Ruler

This virtual class will take place on Zoom. Log in information will be received via email upon registration.
