Frequently Asked Questions


Location & Transportation 📌

  • All films are screened at Majestic Bay Theatres in Ballard, just a few blocks away from the Museum.

    *Please note that the Opening Celebration (Thursday, September 4) and Member Happy Hour (Friday, September 5) will take place at the National Nordic Museum.

  • Parking is available behind Majestic Bay Theatres on NW 56th Street.

  • Ballard is serviced by Metro bus lines 17, 40, 44, and D. We encourage you to take public transportation, as parking in Ballard can be limited.

Timing ⏰

  • Doors will open 30 minutes prior to each film.

  • Yes! We recommend planning your meal breaks ahead of time if you are grabbing a bite before screenings. Please consult the schedule above for film and break times. 

    During the Festival, stop by the check-in table for a list of our favorite restaurants in the area.

  • If you are staying for multiple films in a row, you are welcome to leave your belongings in the theatre during breaks in the schedule. Please note that the Museum is not responsible for any left or missing belongings.

Ticketing 🎟️

  • Day-of tickets will be available for purchase at the check-in table in Majestic Bay’s lobby. We encourage you to purchase your tickets online ahead of the event for quick and easy entry.

  • Festival passes can be picked up at the check-in table at Majestic Bay Theatres. After you check in, passholders will show your badge for access to all films during the Festival.

Event Information ℹ️

  • Majestic Bay will operate their concession stand for snacking all weekend long!

  • Museum Members are invited to join us for drinks and light bites at a Member Happy Hour on Friday, September 5. Afterward, we will walk over to Majestic Bay to enjoy the opening film, Another Round (2020).

    Register for the Event

  • As a part of our Free First Thursday programming on September 5, Guest Curator Thomas Christensen of the Danish Film Institute will be in conversation with Amanda Doxtater, a film historian from UW, to kick off the Festival and discuss the film line-up. 

    During this free event, we will also screen trailers of this year’s films.
