Njál's Saga Tapestry Workshop

Date

Admission

Join us for a tapestry workshop inspired by the Njál's Saga Tapestry, a 90-meter-long tapestry depicting one of Iceland's most famous sagas.

In 2013, the community in Hvolsvöllur, Iceland started sewing the Njál’s Saga Tapestry. The monumental work of art was completed on September 15, 2020 and measures a total of 91.16 meters. In this workshop you will learn sewing techniques from tapestry embroiderer, Claudia Pétursson, and learn more about the history of this tapestry.

All materials will be provided. Take-home tapestry kits will be available to purchase in the Museum Store.
