Introduction to Kolrosing: Decorative Landscapes with Kayla Ann

Learn the basics of Kolrosing (pronounced coal-rosing), a traditional method of decorating wood objects in this two-hour introductory workshop with local artist Kayla Ann. Students will create a decorative plaque featuring their favorite vista or landscape while learning the history and techniques of this traditional Nordic handcraft. Various tools, elements of design, and alternative techniques will also be discussed during class. Hand and wrist dexterity are required for this project. All materials included. Bring a hard or digital copy of a favorite landscape to replicate.

    Kayla Ann

    Kayla Ann is a Seattle based artist and designer known for her playful print designs, colorful illustrations, and her endless love of plants and flowers. She blends elements from the natural world and vintage-inspired motifs to create surface pattern designs, illustrations, and murals. Her signature style combines sketches with pops of color, creating moments of joy that bring awareness to our innate connection with nature.
