She is the founder and publisher of Comestible, a print and digital platform devoted to stories and art about food. Her writing, books, and recipes have been featured in places like Saveur, The New York Times, T Magazine, Eater, Cool Hunting, Food52, Bicycling, Sprudge, Adventure Journal, Adventure Cyclist, Taproot, and more.
Brones also works as a papercut artist, creating graphic illustrations from a single piece of paper. She illustrated Janet Reich Elsbach’s book Extra Helping: Recipes for Caring, Connecting and Building Community One Dish at a Time, and her papercuts are featured as chapter headings in the 2019 edition of Joy of Cooking. Currently, she is working on the Women’s Wisdom Project, a series featuring 100 papercut portraits of amazing women and their insight.
